Celebrity Wheelchair Challenge.

I'm watching Celebrity Wheelchair Challenge at the moment. I was out when it was on but luckily i thought to tape it because its really insightful and i can so relate to it.

It's interesting because everything they say and do its what i find and what i think and what i do and they are shocked by it but for me it is normal and i don't bat an eyelid.

Its kind've funny because of that but also its kind've sad that they are so surprised by all of the problems they find - wheelchair friendly rooms not being wheelchair friendly, the quickest route not being the quickest from a chair and needing to ask for help and not wanting to!

Actually, that last one is the best i think. People always assume that just because you are in a chair and you can't walk that you are struggling with something as it looks like its hard for you and so they should help - without asking a lot of the time! But i like to do what i can for myself and i get very frustrated and defensive about things like that. I once said over the summer that i would like to get a top that said "If i needed help i would have a carer!" so people would know to piss off and let me do it myself.

But watching celebrities having to be lifted on to the toilet is amusing! how embarrassed are they?!

I think Channel Four must be having "Disabled person week" or something, yesterday they had "Crocks and Robbers" the story of disabled criminals

that wasn't that interesting really but after the adverts had the tag line of "you may not realise it but being disabled has its advantages..." i had to watch it!
